Results

In none of the tests did crystals grow on the fishing wire.  Instead, they grew on the sides of the pop bottle. The following are pictures of the acetic acid crystals.

In the pictures above you can see that the crystals formed by the acetic acid are very jagged and randomly formed.

The glycerol did not form crystals.  It froze the sponge solid, and drips from the sponge froze the bottom of the bottle to the rest of the bottle. Unfortunately, none of the pictures of it turned out. (too much glare)

The water control worked, forming crystals resembling hoarfrost on the sides of the bottle.  Only one (shaky) picture turned out, see below.
