- Chernobyl is an example of the harmful effects of radiation. After the
nuclear meltdown in 1986 cancer rates in the Ukraine have skyrocketed.
- Using radiation to generate power is a good alternative to fossil fuel
plants. Power from radiation is a much cleaner source of energy because it
does not produce greenhouse gasses and further global warming.
