Grade Grouping: 10-12
Team Size: 2
Subject Area: Biology
Project Type: Experimental
Project Level: Standard
Project Format: Traditional
Summary of Project: The purpose of this experiment was to determine the right dosage of Mitomycin-C that that would stop the proliferation of adult stem cells, without affecting their ability to grow and specialize. If the right dosage of Mitomycin-C was found it could help researchers find a way to transplant neurons into the damaged areas of the brain, without the possibility of the formation of a tumour. Our hypothesis is that a very small dosage of Mitomycin-C will sufficiently stop cell proliferation in adult stem cells.
