I learned that in this experimint Mom's soil needs way more alkali if she
wants
to grow the Day lilys.
A pH scale tells us how acidic or alkaline something is. The initials pH
stand for Potential of Hydrogen. Acids on a pH scale are under 7 and alkalis
are over 7 on a pH scale. 7 is neutral, neither acidic or alkaline. The pH
scale tells us how much acid or alkali are in something. The more acid
the further down the pH scale it is. You can adjust the pH in your soil
by adding more lime stone if you want to make it alkali. If you want to make
it more acid, add more potassium.
