1. At each of my gathering sites I take my shovel and cut down in to the ground. Then I take a sample from each of the small holes and take a picture of that place. I then take my samples back to our house and start to do some tests on them.

2. I take a look at the soils under a microscope. Then I describe the soil.
3. I then take a shake test for each of them, The shake tests are pH, Phosphorus, Potash, and Nitrogen.
4. I let them sit and check their test results and then record their results.
You must follow the directions on the soil test kit very carefully. I had to do one test over three times because I missed something in the directions
