Whispering Woods

A Website on the Mapping of Whispering Woods

    Introduction:

This website is about the mapping of Whispering Woods and the patches of invasive smooth brome grass within this natural area. Whispering Woods is a small park just west and down the hill from Dr. E.W. Coffin Elementary School, located in Brentwood, in NW Calgary, Alberta. This park was officially adopted by the school through the city's Adopt-A-Park program. The area provides valuable learning experiences for the students and community. The aspens of this natural area make a whispering sound every time wind blows through them, and so the students named the park Whispering Woods. Unfortunately the native aspens and prairie plants have been infested by brome grass and thistle.
