Procedure
1. Construct a target of concentric circles with overlaying square (x-y) grid. 2. Select male high school students to participate in project. Assign subjects to one of the following four groups.
3. Each subject warms up for 10 minutes to reduce the risk of injury. Stretching and warm-up will be done before throwing to minimize the chance of muscle strains. 4. Each subject throws 5 times from 5, 10, and 15 yards in random order. 5. Measure where the ball hit the target using an x-y grid and calculate distance from the centre. 6. Groups i and ii workout (2-3 times per week) for 6 weeks. This is already part of the subjects’ routine. 7. Groups i and iii practice throwing 2-3 times per week for 6 weeks. The throw is for accuracy and not power. 8. Group iv, as the control, do no weight lifting or throwing practice for 6 weeks. 9. Re-test the subjects after a 3 week period using steps 3, 4 and 5 above. 10. Re-test the subjects after a 6 week period using steps 3, 4, and 5 above. 11. Graph average distance from the centre for each subject, throwing distance and training period. Evaluate graphs for trends. 12. Construct tables calculating 2-Way ANOVA for the distance from the centre comparing Start and 3 weeks, and Start and 6 weeks.
