Hello, my name is Matthew McMullen - I am in grade 8 at Chestermere Lake Middle School. This project is a descriptive chemistry project on 'Sugar to Alcohol: the Process'. I am doing this project by myself. It is using a traditional website format with photographs taken with a 35mm Pentax camera. I made this website using Microsoft FrontPage.
I chose this topic because I think that the process of Fermenting is very interesting and that nobody else would have thought of it. I am becoming very interested in wine making because of all the ingredients involved.
In wine making, you have to put in many ingredients, but one of them is not alcohol. Pure alcohol is flammable and dangerous to handle. Fermenting is safe and easy way to create alcohol with little danger. Fermenting creates alcohol and helps bring out the flavour of the grape or fruit being fermented.. You create alcohol by mixing sugar and a special yeast together, and letting it Ferment for a couple weeks.
On this website I will tell you how the process of Fermenting works and what causes it. I will all so show you pictures of the Fermenting process.
