For  my Virtual Science Fair Project, I wanted to see if there was a way to prolong the life of cut tulips. It was an experiment, well more than one. In total, there were about three different experiments, each taking quite a bit of time to do. The first one was using red, orange or yellow tulips, in glasses/vases each filled exactly half way with water.  The substances I added were: baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt and just plain water. For the second experiment, I added: baking powder and sugar, as they prolonged the life of flowers for the first experiment, lemonade, lemon juice, one penny and just plain water. Last, but certainly not least, I used sugar and one cup of lemonade, in a vase, and I put two tulips in. In another glass, I added Floral Life Flower Preservatives. Then, I compared the two. My substance looked healthier, and the petals hadn’t fallen of as much as the tulips with the preservatives. Plus mine lived longer! So that proves that if you add on cup of lemonade and one teaspoon of sugar, you’ll get healthier and longer living tulips! On my website, I have information, a Did You Know? Trivia. And even a photo gallery and a bibliography! I learned a lot about tulips and I bet you will too! Hope you’ll have better time keeping your flowers alive with my project’s substance!
