Acknowledgments

We would like to acknowledge the help and support that our science teacher, Davinder Singh, provided throughout the duration of this project.  In the beginning stages, she helped us to find a topic that we were interested in, and also provided contact with the mentor with whom we worked.  She was a very important part in the beginning stages of this experiment, but also provided support while we were working through the experiments.

We would like to greatly thank Dr. Robert Brownstone, the mentor with whom we worked on this Biotechnology project.  He provided the lab space, as well as the materials that were required to carry out these experiments.  He was also very kind to take time out of his already busy schedule to help guide us through.

We would like to thank Damien Yohn, a graduate student at the Sir Charles Tupper Building for his help in preparing the chick muscle cells and the mouse embryonic stem cells.  We would also like to acknowledge the help of Heather Kearns and Jen Wilson of Dr. Brownstone’s lab at the Sir Charles Tupper Medical Building.  Heather and Jen were in the lab to answer questions and also helped take pictures of the slides with the microscope’s digital camera.
