Hello, and welcome to our web page!! Our names are Iris Chang and Allison Murphy. We are grade nine students attending Simon Fraser Junior High. We did this web page because feel we did a good job our this experiment, and not being able to enter the Calgary Youth Science Fair, we felt people should know about what we did. This is the first this experiment has been entered in a competition. Reading this web page, people could learn alternate ways in saving our environment from an oil spill. Hair is an exellent adsorber of oil, and using the different kinds of hair will show people which should be used. We have prepared this web page to share with you our science fair project. Over the past three months we have been conducting our experiment, in which we tested to see whether or not hair is a good adsorber of crude oil. We compared the results of four types of hair; cat, dog, untreated human, and dyed human hair. We also tested to see whether or not the temperature of the water affected the amount of oil adsorbed. To see the results of our experiment, click on the various links which will take you through our scientific process. We hope you learn alot, and enjoy reading our pages!!
