Grade Grouping: 7-9 (Grade 8)
Subject Area: Earth Sciences
Project Type: Experimental
Project Level: Unknown
Project Format: Traditional (HTML + Flash)

Project Summary:

The objective of this scientific experiment was to determine how fabric softener affects different types of fabrics, similar to the experiment performed by Canadian safety standards. However, I wanted to determine how much different types of fabrics burned, as opposed to simply knowing "this fabric is safe".
I wanted to find out exactly how safe each fabric is...

Idea Inspiration:

My friend and I were thinking of an experimental project that we could do for our school's scince fair, and we decided to use fire in our project. However, we found no scienctific experiments that could be conducted using fire. So, we set out to think of another experiment, without fire. Shortly after we decided that fire would not play a part in our experiment, my mom said something about how fabric softener apperently made certain fabrics more flammable, so we did some research on the topic, and we found that this would be a good topic to futher explore.
