The term BEAM
is an acronym for Biology, Electronics, Aesthetics and
Mechanics. BEAM robotics was invented (and is patented) by Dr Mark W. Tilden
whilst he was a student at university in Canada.
Features:
Two small DC motors drive CYBUG
9-volt PP3 Ni-Cad battery powers CYBUG
Two photocell eyes help CYBUG find or avoid light
Two bump switches help CYBUG avoid obstacles
A set of simple jumpers are used to change behavior between photo-tropic (light
seeking) and photo-phobic (light avoiding)
Two potentiometers
are used to adjust CYBUG's behavior between aggressive and timid.
The Cybug combines electronics, robotics, and biology in one kit. This kit
can be used for recreational use or for educational use.
